Cadillac Lyriq Orders Open With Sweet Charging Deal

Pricing / 12 Comments

You can charge at home, or in public. Your choice.

With the first examples already rolling off the assembly line, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is almost ready to give consumers a new American option in the luxury electric vehicle space. General Motors will officially open Lyriq orders on May 19, 2022, with deliveries starting in the fall. Buyers could previously order the Lyriq Debut Edition, which will be delivered in the summer, but those sold out in just 20 minutes. This is the first legitimate opportunity to nab one.

Now that the Lyriq will be officially available to order, we now have an official price (it's a bit higher than what was previously announced). The Lyriq RWD will arrive starting at $62,990, packing a 100-kilowatt-hour battery yielding an EPA-estimated 312-mile range. That price is slightly higher than the previous $59,990 number, but the range is 12 miles longer than the original estimate. You know what else is special about that price? It's exactly $2,000 less than a Tesla Model Y.

The RWD model boasts plenty of oomph, with 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque coming from the single rear electric motor. Opting for the AWD version adds a second motor on the front axle, which boosts the total output to a whopping 500 hp. That's a substantial increase, especially consider the Lyriq AWD only costs $64,990, just $2,000 more than the RWD variant.

Cadillac hasn't yet announced how that second motor impacts the range, though it does mention that the AWD model can tow up to 3,500 pounds. The Lyriq AWD won't ship until early 2023, so we should get more details on it before then.

Anyone who preorders a Lyriq can choose between a two years of unlimited public charging credits at EVgo, or a $1,500 credit towards a home charger installation from Qmerit. "This unique offer will elevate our customers' experience with the Lyriq, helping them make a smoother, more transparent transition to all-electric driving," said Global Cadillac Vice President Rory Harvey.

When the order books open later this week, customers will have a choice of four colors (including two new options): Opulent Blue Metallic (new), Crystal White Tricoat (new), Satin Steel Metallic, and Stellar Black Metallic.
