Glickenhaus 004CS Is Finally Street Legal In The US

It can be yours for only $627,000.

It has been a long wait, but it seems like the Glickenhaus 004CS has been well worth it. The car recently completed its final round of testing and is ready to be delivered.

First, a reminder of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus' supercar structure. The 004S is a fully-road legal street car with a three-seater layout, and the driver takes center stage. The 004C is a non-road-legal race car that finished 12th overall in the recent Nurburgring 24 Hours. The model we're honing in on is the 004CS, which is where the two cars meet. It's a street-legal, race-inspired three-seater, equally at home and on the track.

According to Road & Track, production deliveries will begin this month, and 25 units will be delivered before 2022.

"Once we've signed off on this final pre-production car, we'll begin delivering customer cars, and this will be soon. We sold a good number of 004Ses with the manual gearbox and 650 hp, and a good number of these 004CSes with 800 hp and (the seven-speed) paddle shift," said Jim Glickenhaus.

So what exactly was standing in the way of the 004CS reaching production? The first four cars had to be destroyed for homologation purposes. And the final step was the electronic stability control calibration, which you want to be perfect in a car that produces approximately 750 horsepower.

The Glickenhaus 004CS is essentially an American rival to the track-ready Lamborghini Huracan STO and comes as standard with several race car features.

Unlike the 004S, this model has a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission and a race-car-inspired body with several model-specific aerodynamic features. These include front-wheel louvers and a rear hood air scoop that channels air to a wide rear diffuser.

It also comes standard with center lock wheels and a digital race dashboard. If you are serious about track days, Glickenhaus will sell you an optional Track Day Package that includes five-point belt mounting points, a built-in air-jack to lift car and change tires, a set of track wheels and race tires in the same dimensions, front and rear tow hooks, and adjustable front anti-roll bar.

For the pleasure of owning one of these cars, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will charge $627,000. That seems like a lot of cash, but it will be made in minimal numbers, and it already comes with a racing pedigree as standard equipment.
