Infiniti Teams Up With Waze For Something Special

Industry News / 3 Comments

For women's month, the luxury brand has partnered with Waze to highlight extraordinary women across the country.

If you're looking for a premium but left-field alternative to the ubiquitous Audi Q7 and Lexus RX, you could do a lot worse than the new Infiniti QX60. Late last year, the Japanese premium brand delivered its first example to an exemplary American, Sharon Watkins, a mother of two and a retired military service member. Now, the QX60 will partake in celebrating Women's Month, in a unique partnership between Infiniti and Waze.

Through an initiative called "Pave it Forward," Waze will shine the light on women-owned businesses and historical landmarks across the country, in recognition of trailblazing women in their respective communities. From March 8, the app will highlight women-owned businesses in 14 cities - including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami - when drivers search for a destination. What's more, landmarks pertaining to female history will also be prominently displayed.

For the duration of the campaign, Waze users can elect to change their icon to the QX60. "This women's day, Infiniti is changing the way we experience the road. Celebrating women who pave the way forward, by geotagging historical sites of women who challenge convention, spotlighting businesses owned by women, who carve their own path and [drive] their community forward. Taking you on this journey is the new Infiniti QX60 custom icon," says Infiniti.

Infiniti USA's Director of Marketing Communications and Media, Shelley Pratt, explains the initiative came about after research showed that just a quarter of the streets in the United States and Canada were named in honor of the fairer sex. The idea behind the plan is to increase the number of people visiting these businesses while bringing attention to what they contribute to the local community.

It's wonderful to see women receiving the praise and recognition they deserve in America as sadly, they aren't as lucky in other countries. In January of 2021, Saudi Arabian pioneer Loujain al-Hathloul was sentenced to a ridiculous five years and eight months in prison, for her steadfast activism in support of Saudi women being able to drive. Still, her tenacious convictions are a classic example of what Infiniti is highlighting in the month of March.

Perhaps the brand is also hoping to entice more customers into purchasing a QX60. Marketed as a direct rival to the Acura MDX, the handsome SUV is not only well-priced but generously equipped, too. Every model receives leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and rear sensors. Additionally, a 12.3-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility also ships standard. A 295-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox provides ample motivation.
