The Mercedes-Benz EQC was the brand’s first production electric SUV, and it has paved the way for the even more luxurious, full-size EQS SUV. Like the EQS Sedan, the EQS SUV will be underpinned by the marque’s dedicated Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA). Not much has been revealed about the EQS SUV yet, but as the flagship electric SUV from Mercedes-Benz, we wouldn’t be surprised if it featured three-row seating as in the GLS-Class.

Likewise, powertrain details are unknown, but it does share its architecture with the EQS Sedan, so power outputs could be similar. In the EQS Vision Concept, two electric motors produce total outputs of 469 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque, while powering all four wheels. This could provide a clue as to the performance potential of the EQS SUV. In the EQS sedan, a range of around 435 miles has been announced based on the WLTP cycle.

Inside, the EQS SUV should be as beautifully finished and advanced as the latest S-Class. Expect it to feature an abundance of touchscreen interfaces and the very latest driver-assist technologies. The EQS SUV will arrive sometime in 2022. Expect pricing to be announced closer to the model’s on-sale date, but this may just turn out to be the new king of electric SUVs.
