Polestar Family Photo Reveals All-New Model

Teaser / 3 Comments

And new angles of the production Polestar 3 and 5.

We've got to hand it to Polestar; the Swedish electric vehicle brand has managed to stay in the news cycle despite being a relative niche player in the automotive industry. Updates to the Polestar 2, a teaser for the upcoming Polestar 3 SUV, and the reveal of a stunning sports car concept have kept eyes on Polestar. Now the company seems to have its marketing campaign running at full speed with yet another big teaser.

Housed within a rather benign press release mentioning upcoming plans to go public with a listing on the Nasdaq, Polestar dropped the first image of its next SUV model after the Polestar 3. In keeping with the brand's current naming scheme, it'll be called the Polestar 4 and will take the form of an electric SUV coupe.

This is our best look yet at the 2023 Polestar 4, which was only previously seen under a much thicker cover that gave almost nothing away, other than its size. Whereas the Polestar 3 will compete with midsize SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne, the Polestar 4 targets compact crossovers like the BMW X4 and Porsche Macan, the latter of which is going all-electric for the next generation.

This thinner shrouding reveals the 4's full-width rear lighting element, a familial design trait. We can clearly see a slanted rear tailgate design similar to other SUV coupes, but also the absence of black wheel arches, instead using body-colored items similar to the Polestar 5 alongside it. The Polestar 4 will make its debut in 2023.

Speaking of the other members in the photo, we now have another view of the Polestar 3, giving us our first real view of its rear end, which looks simple yet futuristic. To the right of the Polestar 4, we also get another glimpse of the upcoming Polestar 5 electric four-door GT, which will go toe-to-toe with the Porsche Taycan. This stunning sedan has been teased before, but this angle reveals the unique rear-end design that ditches a rear window to save weight. Unfortunately, this model is still a few years away, and won't be revealed in full production form until after the two SUVs go on sale.
