And a few subtle styling tweaks.

After announcing pricing for its smallest crossover (the Crosstrek), Subaru just announced updates to its largest model, the three-row Ascent SUV. The 2023 Subaru Ascent arrives sporting incremental improvements ahead of its first mid-cycle update next year. Last year saw the addition of a new Onyx Edition trim level, which gains more standard features and an option package for 2023. The Ascent will come in Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring trims, all of which receive some notable updates for the new model year.

Every Ascent gets an updated front fascia that incorporates a more prominent grille that extends into the headlights.

The headlights have been redesigned as have the rear Konoji (C-shaped) taillights. Finally, the midsize SUV gets a more aggressive front bumper cover.

Inside, all trim levels now get Subaru's 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Optionally, this screen can be tied to integrate voice-activated navigation from TomTom with what3words (W3W) commands and a Harman Kardon QuantumLogic audio system. For 2023, the Onyx Edition gains a panoramic moonroof plus an optional package that adds the aforementioned built-in navigations and upgraded audio, plus power front seats, second row sunshades, rear heated seats, illuminated cupholders, a surround view monitor and DriverFocus system.

Every Ascent for 2023 includes new steering responsive LED headlights and high beam assist. Depending on trim level, the Ascent has enough space for seven or eight passengers and a whopping 19 drinks.

No pricing was announced in Subaru's press release, though we doubt it will change much from last year. The base Ascent currently starts at $32,795, with the top Touring trim costing $45,945. The 2023 Ascent will arrive at dealers this fall, all sporting the same 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer-four engine mated to a CVT driving Symmetrical all-wheel-drive. This engine produces 260 horsepower, yielding a 5,000-pound towing capacity.
