The Jeep Grand Wagoneer Is The Perfect Wedding Limousine

Offbeat / 1 Comment

It's certainly luxurious enough, and when the groom is 6'5", it's also big enough.

The bride and groom read vows, share their first kiss as a married couple, walk down the aisle amongst family and friends, then hop into a car with the phrase "just hitched" written on the back. Quick, what kind of car did you picture? A Lincoln Town car? Maybe something more special like a Bentley? Probably not a Jeep, right? Well, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer isn't your average Jeep; it's a new full-size luxury SUV built to target segment leaders like the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. That's a tall order for a brand that's never competed in this space, but Jeep isn't coming to the party unprepared.

With an $87,995 starting MSRP, the Grand Wagoneer is priced like a true luxury car, but does it feel like one? We put Jeep's most luxurious model to the ultimate test, chauffeuring a bride and groom from their wedding ceremony to the hotel. And the Grand Wagoneer didn't disappoint.

Grand Enough For The Occasion

Much has been said about the Grand Wagoneer's styling, both positive and negative, but using it as a wedding car gave us an opportunity to gauge real opinions in real time. From the moment we pulled up to the venue, people took notice. Measuring 214.7 inches from front to back, the Jeep stretches nearly three inches longer than a regular wheelbase Escalade. Such a large vehicle makes a big impression, and if you need something with more space, Jeep is already working on an extended version.

Our tester's Bright White with black roof paint scheme was perfect for the occasion, while blingy accents like the massive 22-inch wheels and grille oozed opulence. We asked a number of wedding guests who saw the Jeep if they thought it looked like a real luxury car with a six-figure price tag. The question was met with a resounding "yes." In fact, because the "Jeep" logos are few and far between, many attendees weren't even aware that the Grand Wagoneer is a Jeep product.

All The Groom's Men

Outside of its function as the bride and groom's limousine, the Grand Wagoneer was the perfect ride for the bachelor and bachelorette parties. The Grand Wagoneer offers seating for seven in luxury, and as the groomsmen in these photos prove, those seats aren't just meant for children. Passengers in the second row get 42.7 inches of legroom (just 0.2 less than a Bentley Flying Spur) while the third row offers a decent 36.6 inches. Since the groom is 6'5", we needed to grab the largest vehicle we could find. Few vehicles allow tall occupants to stretch out like the Grand Wagoneer.

Technology Galore

Beyond its imposing styling and cavernous interior, the Grand Wagoneer impressed guests with a huge roster of features. The wedding took place during an abnormally chilly night in Florida, creating a perfect chance for guests to experience Jeep's extravagant Relax Mode. This feature includes several relaxing screensavers for the Grand Wagoneer's 75 inches of available screens, including a tranquil forest and an aurora among others. The fireplace ended up being the crowd favorite for obvious reasons, pairing well with the car's front and rear heated seats to warm up guests.

Other standout luxury features include massaging front seats, a night vision camera, and an outstanding 23-speaker McIntosh audio system. Though it's more useful for children than adults, the FamCam feature also became a fun topic of conversation with its ability to show rear passengers on the front screen.

Smooth Operator

A luxurious car deserves a luxurious powertrain, and Jeep's 6.4-liter HEMI V8 proves up to the task. It produces 471 horsepower, which is more than its main American rivals from Cadillac and Lincoln. With so much available grunt, the Grand Wagoneer gets up to speed smoothly and without fuss. The buttery eight-speed automatic transmission helps too. This monstrous powertrain enables a nearly 10,000-pound towing capacity, perfect if you want to take a family trip to the lake with a boat in-tow. The towing capacity did not come into play in this case, but the groomsmen weren't disappointed with the HEMI's throaty exhaust note.

Grand Opulence

After the reception, it was time to whisk the bride and groom away for their first night as a married couple. As we opened the rear doors, power running boards deployed to welcome them into the Wagoneer's grand back seat. Two adjustable captain's chairs awaited them with the heated seat function cranked up to offset the freezing temperatures. As a special touch, we laid out a surprise that was chilled using the car's built-in refrigerator along with a message written on a notepad saved from the Grand Wagoneer launch event in New York.

Passing The Test

While a Jeep wouldn't be your first, second, or even third choice as a wedding limo, the Grand Wagoneer proved itself to be more than capable and easily felt worth the $106,990 as-tested price. Jeep's new flagship passed every test: it exudes luxury styling, the interior is upscale, there's more than enough space, and the luxury amenities are overwhelming. In every way, the Grand Wagoner was the perfect vehicle for the occasion.

Congratulations to Garrett and Taylor! Thank you for letting CarBuzz and Jeep help make your big day special!
