2024 Acura ADX

Acura ADX

The Acura ADX is the Japanese brand's first EV, but underneath it's as American as a Chevrolet Corvette. To decrease the bills and speed up the process of building an EV, Acura/Honda teamed up with General Motors to develop EVs based on the existing Ultium platform and battery technology.

Little is known about the ADX, except that Acura already filed a trademark for the name and that the Ultium platform provides multiple drivetrain options. Since Acuras are generally sportier than Hondas, we're guessing Acura will bypass the front-wheel-drive long-range option and will use the dual or triple-motor setup instead.

As for size, we think it will be roughly in the same ballpark as the MDX, which is Acura's best-selling crossover. That will also put it in the ring with upcoming EV crossovers like the Polestar 4 and the next-generation EV-only Porsche Macan.

Thanks to the partnership with GM, the Acura ADX does not need to be built from scratch. It should reach the market in 2024 if all goes well. That's roughly a year after its main rivals, keeping the Acura brand relevant and in touch with the consumer.

Getting the pricing right will be crucial. We know the price of battery packs is dropping rapidly, but EVs still demand a premium over ICE cars. The general ballpark for this segment is between $60,000 to $80,000, and Acura will likely want to be on the lower end of that.
