Described as the world's first all-electric commercial pickup, the aptly named Endurance from Lordstown Motors is one of several new electric trucks that will soon turn the segment on its head. The Endurance makes use of four in-wheel hub motors that the company says enhances control of the pickup while lowering the number of moving parts, consequently decreasing maintenance costs.

Those four hub motors enable a four-wheel-drive configuration that will allow the Endurance to confidently tackle muddy or slippery conditions while in the line of duty. In total, the electric powertrain produces 600 horsepower. This should enable snappy acceleration on the way to the truck's 80-mph limited top speed, while Lordstown has promised a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. The 109 kWh battery will enable a range of 250 miles. It can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in ten hours with Level 2 11-kW AC power or between 30 and 90 minutes when utilizing Level 3 DC charging. Inside, the Endurance will be able to seat five occupants while the cabin offers a digital gauge cluster. The truck will be capable of receiving over-the-air updates and includes safety tech like rear cross-traffic alert. A medium-length bed and a Crew Cab will be offered initially.

A base price of $52,500 has been set, but the Endurance could also qualify for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500.
