It's Now Safer Than Ever To Get A Used Lotus

The company will inspect and certify them with the Lotus Approved program.

Lotus is enhancing its version of "certified pre-owned" vehicles with its new, more comprehensive Lotus Approved program. This will let buyers pickup used British coupes and roadsters, including the lovely Evora, without the normal worries that accompany such purchases.

The status can now be applied to any Lotus car up to 20 years old provided the vehicle makes it through the company's rigorous battery of tests. "These include comprehensive technical checks coupled with outstanding vehicle preparation, delivering a high-quality and consistent standard of pre-owned car throughout the Lotus network."

Buyers will get more flexible finance options, hopefully less than 72 months, which Lotus says will provide the most affordable entry point into Lotus ownership.

"The relaunch of the Lotus Approved program is another significant milestone in the transformation of our business. This is a win-win scenario for everyone; for customers new to the Lotus brand it delivers added value and peace of mind, and for our retailers it's an opportunity to expand their customer base."

When you buy a Lotus Approved car you get a minimum 12-month warranty, a full service history with Experian vehicle history check, vehicle identity check with mileage verification, a multipoint inspection by a Lotus tech along with a 10-mile road test, appropriate service if due withing three months, a ministry of transportation cover policy, full vehicle valet and 12 months of breakdown coverage. Overall, it should put a lot of drivers as ease. Lotus makes this almost as safe as buying new.

Additionally, each Lotus Approved vehicle comes with a complementary Certificate of Provenance, which provides detailed vehicle information documents and a selection of Lotus collectables. The pack includes an engraved aluminum plaque, a leather Lotus keyring, a presentation tin of four badges and a Lotus ink pen, all presented in a bespoke Lotus-branded gift box.

As of now, the Lotus Approved program is only being launched in the UK. Lotus says it will expand to Europe next "and other international markets later this year." We've emailed to see if the US is on that list and will update if we hear back.
