Pagani Huayra R Is So Loud It Can Scare Small Children

Video / 8 Comments

This is one of the best-sounding V12s we have ever heard.

Bugatti recently confirmed the Bolide will enter production, but we doubt it will sound as good as the Pagani Huayra R, the most extreme Huayra ever made. The one-off Bolide concept comes powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine producing a combined 1,850 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque, whereas the track-only Huayra R utilizes a 6.0-liter, naturally-aspirated V12 pumping out 850 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque - and it's easily one of the best-sounding V12s we have ever heard.

Revving all the way to 9,000 rpm, the Huayra R's V12 sounds vicious, just as a track-only Pagani should. Pagani recently showcased the Huayra R at the Supercar Owners Circle 2021 in Croatia.

A new video from the event allows us to hear its sweet-sounding V12 scream. After the hypercar is loaded from a truck, our ears are treated to the Huyara R's naturally-aspirated V12 starting up and revving for several minutes in front of a crowd.

Even with mufflers installed, the exhaust is so loud, it can scare small children. As the Huyayra R roars, you can see a child cover his ears. Just imagine how loud it must be without any mufflers. Pagani allows optional mufflers to be installed so that the Huayra R can still be enjoyed on race tracks with noise restrictions imposed by the FIA.

Later in the video, the Huayra R gets driven on a public road as part of a convoy of supercars, giving us a closer look at the hypercar's aggressive, aerodynamic body clad in carbon fiber. Around five minutes into the video, the Huayra R gets taken for a high-speed run. In a fly-by shot recorded from the trackside, the high-revving hypercar can be heard coming from miles away.

Thanks to its composite monocoque chassis and extensive use of carbon fiber, the Huayra R tips the scales at just 2,314 pounds. Only 30 examples will be built, each costing an eye-watering $3.1 million, so not many people will get to experience the pleasure of driving or hearing this magnificent machine.
