The Big Kahuna Monster Truck Is Back With Bronco Inspiration

Can you spot the Bronco in there?

If you follow Monster Jam closely, you'll know that The Big Kahuna has been out of commission for a while.

Big Kahuna and driver, Shane England, have been missing from the sport since 2020, but the car and driver are close to making a comeback.

In a Facebook post, England shared the design of the 2022 Kahuna Ford Bronco. It's meant to resemble the Ford Bronco closely, and it sort of succeeds. It's obviously missing the signature headlights and taillights, but you can see the resemblance from the side.

For now, The Big Kahuna is still in the CGI phase of its development. The next step is building the thing England seems to have under control by looking at the various sponsor hashtags.

England and The Big Kahuna rose to fame a few years ago as audacious privateers who weren't afraid of doing backflips. These backflips mainly resulted in England nearly losing the surfboards mounted on the rear, but the new Bronco won't have that problem.

Instead of bolting surfboards to the bed, as seen on the previous Big Kahuna, the new car will have a board painted on the body. How long that body will last is debatable, as Monster Jammers have little to no sympathy for machines.

The new Big Kahuna was created by CGI artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel. Emmanuel is known for his impressive vehicle renderings, including a more accurate representation of the Bronco.

If we had to guess, these earlier renderings of the Bronco caught England's eye, and that's why Emmanuel was approached to do the job.

Getting the new Big Kahuna Bronco up and running shouldn't take too long. Each truck frame is custom made, while the body on top is cheap fiberglass. That's likely why Emmanuel's original Bronco rendering was rejected, as it's a bit too complex to reproduce for every race.

The average Monster Jam truck is around 10.5 feet tall, 17 feet long, and 12.5 feet wide. Even with a fiberglass body, they weigh roughly 12,000 pounds. But that's fine since the average engine output is approximately 1,500 horsepower.

After a nearly three-year absence, it'll be nice to see The Big Kahuna back in the stadium, trying to complete a double backflip successfully.
