This Is The Off-Road Lamborghini Urus Of Our Dreams

The Lamborghini Urus has changed the high-performance SUV segment for the better. Rivals such as the BMW X5 M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S have been warned. Even Lamborghini's longtime foe Ferrari is being forced to respond with its first-ever SUV, the Purosangue, next year. Since its 2018 model-year launch, the Urus has remained unchanged. However, the Italian carmaker remains committed to building a race-ready and production-spec version of the Urus ST-X Concept, an off-road capable and track-tuned version of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8-powered SUV.

But could Lamborghini pursue off-roading even further? Of course, though we doubt it'll do so.

That's why it's up to individual designers and aftermarket tuners to make things happen. Abimelec Design has just released what could be the ultimate off-road Urus. This Arctic-ready Urus still very much looks like an Urus, but there are a few "minor" modifications. For starters, there are those massive and extra-wide tires which, if you look closely, sport Lamborghini Countach-inspired bronze wheels.

The new more pronounced fender flares receive their inspiration from the one and only Lamborghini LM002, affectionately known as the "Rambo Lambo." A roof rack containing a spare tire and a couple of fuel canisters has also been added.

The designer does not mention any suspension or engine modifications, though a lift kit and other related tweaks would surely be necessary in order to accommodate the new wheels. The 641-horsepower V8 probably wouldn't need any adjustments, nor would the all-wheel-drive system and eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Sadly, this polar exploring Urus remains merely an online design concept, but someone needs to make this thing happen in real life.

Extreme SUVs could be the next big thing now that the segment has conquered regular roads and even race tracks. The Urus would work beautifully for such an extreme conversion.
