Alfa Romeo has had a wheel in almost every realm of the automotive industry, from Formula One and Grand Prix, through to Touring and Rallying, as well as commercial motoring. These days, the marque takes on more of a luxury focus, with its latest models flaunting handsome Italian design rounded off by premium, high-class cabins that are brimming with creature comforts and conveniences. That is not to say that the brand has completely left performance qualities by the wayside, with many of its offerings still portraying apt sporting prowess matched by strapping body styles. Plus, future Alfa Romeo vehicles promise to be more compelling than ever with specialty and novel concepts being brought to life for the US market.

The 2021 Alfa Romeo Lineup

There have been numerous Alfa Romeo models proffered within the USA, with all types of body and size classifications within the range. Here are the latest and upcoming models:

  • Stelvio: In America, this popular compact SUV is presented in six varying trim-lines. All are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, and either a rear- or an all-wheel-drive system. It is a peppy and exceedingly entertaining cruiser, but not a very rugged or utilitarian daily despite its utility intimation. Nonetheless, as with most cars from Alfa Romeo, its exclusive and distinct aesthetic makes it one of the most attractive choices in the segment, too.
  • Giulia: With its 2020 redesign, this compact sedan’s enjoyable handling dynamics and eye-catching looks are complemented with a more avant-garde and high-quality cabin. It shares the powertrain and underpinnings of its SUV counterpart, the Stelvio, differentiated only by its classification, five-trim lineup, and slightly lower starting price. Unfortunately, with how expensive this car still is, it doesn’t quite match up to its competitors in comfort on the road and build-quality.
  • Quadrifoglio: Those who have a passion for driving, and for this brand in particular, will be overjoyed to know that both the sedan and the sport utility vehicle are proffered in specialized high-performance versions indicated by the Quadrifoglio moniker. Imbued with a more powerful, 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and a selection of purposed specs, these green cloverleaf-badged machines bring an extra level of capability to the Alfa Romeo lineup without any compromise in first-rate opulence.
  • 4C Spider: With a mere 237 horsepower at the helm, this Italian sports car relies purely on its carbon fiber monocoque lightweight chassis and stripped interior to go really, really fast. And it does. Put the pedal to the metal, and the diminutive convertible should jolt from 0 to 60 mph in an exhilarating 4.1 seconds. That is really impressive considering that it is a low-hp 1.75-liter turbo-four that keeps the RWD joyrider up to speed with its V6- and V8-equipped rivals. But, thanks to all of these factors, it actually offers the best gas mileage of the lot, with EPA-estimated figures of 24/34/28 mpg.
  • GTA: Scheduled to debut for the 2021 production year, this super sedan duo will boast high-output V6 mills, improved aerodynamics, and extreme weight-saving measures. To have the Grand Turismo Alleggerita stand out from the range, the ultra-limited edition fetches aggressive exterior design cues co-developed with Sauber Engineering. These include an aggressive front-splitter, side skirtings, and a bespoke rear-end spoiler. It also features a contemporary interior laden with performance-purposed apparatus. On the downside, there is no confirmation of whether these derivatives will make it Stateside just yet.
  • Tonale: For 2021, Alfa Romeo plans to introduce what will be its entry-level offering for the sub-compact luxury crossover segment. It brings extra appeal as the automaker’s smallest and most affordable product, which, subsequently, positions it below the already familiar ute. It is expected that a 1.3L gasoline mill coupled to an electric system may run power to its rear wheels while an AWD layout can be opt-in.
