Buy Used Mazda Models

When it comes to crafting performance-refined, aesthetically pleasing, and assuredly value-rich bijou cars, Mazda is perhaps one of the first automotive badges that come to mind. While most of America’s automakers are clearing their production lines of all subcompact and compact provisions, Mazda’s latest models all continue to buck the trend, making the badge one of the only in the USA to offer a set selection of urban cruisers. On that note, Mazda’s entire lineup is relatively simplistic and restrained, too; the full list comprises only a few nameplates for select classifications. That’s no bad thing, though, with each and every nameplate having subsequently received its fair share of meticulous all-round attention.

Mazda Vehicle Classes and Model Lineup

The following types of cars are available from the manufacturer:

  • Sports Cars: As the sportiest types of Mazda automobiles, performance ratings are expected and inclusive, driver-focused specs are commonplace. Only the MX-5 Miata and its enhanced RF counterpart slot into this category. Both are equipped with a peppy 181-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can be paired to either a six-ratio manual or automatic gearbox. In either configuration, outputs are directed to a stock rear-wheel drivetrain. The RF Mazda’s price exceeds that of the standard Miata’s as it’s fitted with a host of advanced underpinnings for improved capability and with a few more creature comforts and conveniences as is, including a power-operated retractable hard-top.
  • Sedans and Hatchbacks: There are only two sedans (the 3 and 6) and a single hatch (the 3) to choose from in this section of the garage. Both versions of the compact 3 Series are equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine and a six-speed electronic transmission by default. Both versions can also be had with either front-wheel-drive or AWD systems. You may not be able to tell the slight differences between the 3 and 6 in pictures, but the Mazda 6 costs a little more and is classified as a midsize sedan, meaning it offers a little more in passenger comfort. It gets the same powertrain setup as the other variants, however, and it’s available only in FWD.
  • SUVs and Crossovers: According to our reviews, these are Mazda’s best cars. Furthermore, the newest addition to the segment is an all-electric SUV, the cardinal representation of its kind to be introduced to the Japanese marques compendium. Though relatively small in stature, these are the brand’s most well-rounded and easy-to-live-with cruisers. There are five variants to choose from - the CX-3 being the smallest spin-off while the larger CX-9 provides seating for up to six passengers. A 2.0-liter four-pot motor powers the CX-3 while a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit is standard in all the rest, save for the EV. A six-speed automatic gearbox is utilized across the board with either FWD or AWD selectable.
